Can I tell you a story about Gallipoli's carnival mask?

Lu Titoru (Teodoro) is the official mask of the Gallipoli Carnival. According to tradition, Teodoro was a young boy from Gallipoli who, returning from the military on Shrove Tuesday, asked his mother to prepare his favorite dish, meatballs, before beginning the Lenten fast. Taken from the heat, Theodore was suffocated by the meatballs and died.
Since then, during every carnival, "lu Titoru" has been wandering through the crowd with his mournful dress, only the most attentive notice it!
